An alternative to photo sites
If you work in advertising, graphic design, web design or media, you know what can be painful to find a quick picture perfect for your project.
Of course, the photo is an option that may suit many. But I think many of us want a viable alternative. A place where you can find a picture you want, fast, convenient and cheap.
Today, there are many Internet sites that offer photos. Is
pre-made images that you can purchase for use in presentations, brochures, website, posters, magazines, etc.
So there's a photo, but no money or time to move on a real photo. Then you go to an online image bank, spend several hours looking for something similar to what was originally in mind. It is rare to find the perfect photograph, but is willing to make concessions. Or say you're forced to compromise (Note that you do not have the money or time). So buy a so-so image, then you realize it's not as cheap as you thought, no clear and easy resolution is necessary, and the child is * only vertically! "What is my landscape design flag? Well … what I can do? There is nothing I can do because there is no other choice … Or, right?
Divided by 2
Before revealing the magic in another way to address these difficult situations, let me to summarize the photography market in general.
In general, you can divide the market two: the collections of libraries high prices and low prices.
The collections of the high prices are mainly formed by two giants: Getty Images and Corbis, the latter belonging to Mr. Bill Gates.
Offer photos of reasonable quality, of course, are divided into two:
Stock photos at a reasonable price, it's yours forever … but not only theirs. So you can see your picture on your competitors campaign. (Believe me, it happened)
The quality and resolution are generally low.
Rights Managed Photos reasonable price, but … only for a month or two. And only if you want to use the photo in a small booklet printed copies are not too numerous. Because that you pay for each poster, flag, outdoors online, or flyer that you use. Therefore, the same photo used for a 3 month campaign posters, among others, outdoors, flyers, online … can empty his pockets with over $ 10,000. The good news is that you can freely use his picture on the radio;)
Enough with the giants! Now, some low cost airlines. Include, iStock, Dreamstime, Shutterstock, etc. Now of course, is not good to buy a photo for $ 1? It's wonderful! This is possible because they often sell loans and credits, you can buy the photos. And it is also possible because the pictures are at best questionable in terms of quality and resolution. Of course, here and there are some good photos, but it's like finding a needle in a haystack. So if you is a master of Photoshop and work on a project online, for example, in images that do not require high Pérez necessary, then you could do your job with such low prices collections.
The alternative
Fortunately, there is another way. In 2009, a group of people from advertising, professional photographers and art directors created a website called Imagamma. Here to fill out a short online questionnaire, references and download within 48 hours you get the picture you want. Look no more, no more compromises. All images are high resolution, you can choose both vertical and horizontal formats for the same photo.
In addition, you own the only picture that, regardless of application or media plan. You pay once and everything!
Of course, there's a catch: you can not view your picture ASAP. But your first order, you pay nothing upfront. Then decide if you are willing to pay the photo when viewing the image. So there is virtually no risk.
Conclusion
Maybe there's an odd way to think about advertising images, but if this site is going to be successful, will pave the way for many changes in the industry. Until at least each of us will be an alternative web photo viable.
