Used truck trailer market in the U.S. – An overview
There are thousands of suppliers and buyers of truck trailers currently used, the purchase and sale of trailers in the United States. American Stock Exchange trailer, trailer Atlanta-based distributor, estimates that the secondary (used) market trailer is approximately 400,000 units per year, equivalent to over 3 billion dollars in sales. Dry vans, flatbed trailers, refrigerated vans and tankers are the majority of this material.
Trailers have a lifespan of at least twenty years.They are generally sold several times during his life when they move from a long distance, regional routes, using local transportation, and finally, care. A general rule is that trailers are sold again every five years and then used indefinitely as storage units. Trailer shipments average of about 250,000 new units. Trailers have a variety of specifications and settings that determine the use and market segments to buy.
Truck towing power: The market supply of trailer high school is relatively fragmented, with no organized distribution system nationwide. There are only a few suppliers trailer used with a national scope. The trailer used truck market is made up of trailer manufacturers that have as part payment for resale, private and public operators usually sell the suppliers surplus equipment, equipment rental companies and banks to re-market assets at the end of the lease through its asset management departments, a small number of companies that buy in bulk carriers and equipment redistribution and national merchants, over 1500 dealers of teams and riders that serve areas of regional markets. The fragmentation of the market often resulting in inefficiencies in the market with the team through the original seller for brokers, traders and other intermediaries before reaching the end user.
Types of companies that contribute to the supply chain the truck trailer used:
1. Manufacturer of trailers: There are over 100 manufacturers trailer trucks for sale in the United States an average of 250 000 new trailers a year. The top 10 manufacturers account for over 75% of total sales. Trailer manufacturers have traditionally been an important source of trailers in the secondary market, as they often are invited to have the equipment used commercially to sell new units. In recent years, however, manufacturers have grown reluctant to play an active participant because of their need to recapitalize the manufacturing operations. This recapitalization was carried out by closing branches factory for the deductible (usually non-exclusive) distributor, and refusing to take the trade in certain packages, or offer less for them. Most manufacturers have reduced the department's staff of employees use a trailer or two that now depend largely traders to buy this equipment.
