Haunted Lighthouses – Heceta Head Lighthouse
Named after the Spanish sailor Don Bruno Heceta who discovered the site in 1755, the Heceta Head Lighthouse is in a beautiful location on the Oregon coast, north of Florence.
Formerly known as State Park Devil's Elbow, the region includes South Cove Lighthouse and The lighthouse itself. The area has been renamed Heceta Head Lighthouse State gazebo.
The director's house, situated on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a magnificent view over the water and the beach. Because of its beautiful setting, Heceta Head Light is said to be the most photographed lighthouse in the United States.
The tower the lighthouse is 56 meters high and is 205 feet. Heceta Head Lighthouse is the known as the brightest light on the Oregon coast. Its light can be seen 21 miles at sea and is only hampered by the curvature of the earth.
Construction of the lighthouse began in 1892. Project completion was hampered and delayed the cliff site, and nothing could be done until the roads were built for the supplies to be placed on the site. Yet the project said it took about five years, the same light came on for the first time in March 1894.
The original building consisted of the Lighthouse tower, which served as a Buidling headquarters of the guard head, a duplex building where the two guards at the wizard lived and storage type buildings. The only building that was demolished in 1940 and the wood has been used Alfa to build coffee-Bit in Mapleton, Oregon, about 14 miles east of the lighthouse. The lighthouse was automated in 1963 and there was no need for a lighthouse keeper.
The lighthouse tower itself is not believed to be haunted, but the stories about strange happenings in Heceta House have been saying for years, landing of the ten homes most haunted in the United States. The spirit of a lady called the street, or the "Gray Lady" is considered the residence Spirit Heceta House.
Nearly all residents from the 1950 reported unusual incidents and reports continue today. All incidents were very friendly, maybe sometimes playful. Although no official documents were found, there is a tomb of the girl on the premesis. Many people believe that the spirit of the mother of the girl remains in place, possibly ensuring his daughter.
This lady ghost known as "street" does not appear that when construction is done or changes in buildings. Apparently, Some volunteers had gone to the location where they spent the night painting. At night, the fire alarm continuously. Although no fire was discovered, the alarm continued to exit. After getting tired of being awakened by the sound of the alarm, they removed the battery, but in vain. The alarm rang. Perhaps the street did not like the color of paint they use?
Probably the most famous incident reported to the House of Heceta is that of a workman who came face to face with the street in the attic. I was so surprised that he fled the building and refused to return to the attic.
A few days later, he accidentally broke the window the attic, where he worked outside the building. Since in reality Refused go inside the attic, went to the window from outside and broken glass was scattered on the floor of the attic. That night, workers heard scratching noises coming from the attic. In the morning when they went to the attic to investigate, they found that glass had been involved in a neat pile under the window repaired.
The street has other ways to make their presence felt, including the chance of moving objects, opening and closing cabinet doors, looking down at people from the attic window, which appears as a smoky gray mist – thus the nickname "Lady Grey. "
Heceta house is now a renowned bed and breakfast that has become so popular that there is a waiting list for three months for reservations. Both the lighthouse and lighthouse keeper's house is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
