Rarely will two women ever agree on what constitutes the perfect handbag. There are so many choices available in terms of material, style, and color that it can be difficult to select one. By carefully considering how you use a handbag you can improve the chances that you will be satisfied with your choice.
An organizer bag can be a good choice for those who want everything to have its own place and who will take the time to keep everything in that place. These usually have several zippered compartments to categorize contents and pockets for things like credit cards, cell phones, and checkbooks. They often are designed with a detachable shoulder strap and a clip to hold your keys.
If a less structured approach is more to your liking, you may be happier with one of the many hobo bags on the market. These are normally just a single large, soft pouch and a strap to carry on the shoulder. If you want to compromise, you could place small things in separate smaller pouches before adding to your bag.
A tote bag or a Hobo bag would be a good choice for those who like the ability to carry larger items within. If you frequently take along a bottle of water, a book, or a snack, you might want to consider one of these types of bags. They will also hold a large wallet, a date book, or a portable tape player.
A clutch is a small bag that holds little more than the bare essentials. Some have no strap, while others have just a short strap to wrap around the wrist. There are also designers who are adding a chain or strap just long enough to allow the bag to be carried on the shoulder. An evening bag is usually a clutch, but is typically adorned with sequins, mother of pearl, or beads for additional sparkle. Also, they seldom have a shoulder strap available, although some may have handles or wrist straps.
You can choose from a wide range of materials, from brightly colored fabrics to brown boot leather. On some bags, you can add a personalized metal plate engraved as you wish or decorative embroidery. Fabric bags can also sport trim, like tassels, rhinestones, or sequins, to make them more interesting.
Once you have decided on the style, material, and size you need, your shopping will be much easier. Whether you buy online or at your local department store, you will find hundreds of bags from which to choose. All that will remain is for you to make a decision and then enjoy your new handbag.
