Are You Taking A Short Break In London? Why Not Have A Trip On The London Eye
The capital city of England and the U.K., London, has a great many excellent visitor attractions, ranging from the incredibly ancient to the very young. The majority of the tourist attractions are well known around the world (such as, Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and the Houses of ParliamentBuckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London). Amongst the most recent are the London Aquarium, Millennium Bridge, Millenium Dome and the London Eye.
The Merlin Entertainments London Eye (it’s full name), is more frequently referred to as, simply, the London Eye or,from time to time, the Millenium Wheel (because of the fact that it was constructed as part of the Millenium celebrations). It was opened officially by the then British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, in the night of December the thiry first unfortunately there were technical safety problems which led to it not being opened to the public until March. When it was erected it was the tallest Ferris on the planet at a height of 443 ft.
The gigantic wheel is situated on the South Bank of the River Thames in Jubilee Gardens looking over to the Houses of Parliament below. From inside one of the thirty two compartments towering over the whole of London you can view an amazing number of London landmarks, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Hampton Court Palace, St Paul’s and Buckingham Palace are to name just a few, what an amazing way to see nearly all of London and, the most likely, the reason it is one of the most visited paid for attraction in London.
The first flight on the London Eye is at 10.00 am but the ticket office opens at 9.30 am. It closes at 9.30 pm between July and August, 8 ‘o clock at night between October and April and at nine ‘o clock at night for the rest of the year.
People arriving by car will be pleased to learn that there are three car parks close by. For those traveling in coach parties there are parking facilities incredibly close to the Eye (Telephone) +44 (0)870 990 8886) for info.
The simplest method to travel to the London Eye is by the London Tube, just get off at one of the following tube stations; Charing Cross, Westminster, Embankment, or the closest Waterloo. You can also travel by boat, get off at Waterloo Millennium Pier.
Finding London hotel accommodation is as simple as going over to MSN, Yahoo or Google (or another search engine of your choice. Whatever type you prefer you are certain to find your perfect London accommodation because the city must have the most guest houses, hotels and bed and breakfasts than any other. Luxurious accommodation to the cheerful and cheap, huge corporate hotels to the smaller boutique hotels and more.
